Troop 62 is a Virginia Beach-based Scout troop that has been serving the community since around 1943. We are proud to be chartered by Courthouse Area Charities, and have been one of the oldest chartered troops in the city.
Over the course of our 80-year history, we have helped more than 75 young men achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest award in Scouts. Our commitment to personal growth and development is reflected in the dozens of rank advancements and scores of merit badges that we awarded each year.
Youth leadership development
In Troop 62, we believe in developing youth leadership by giving our scouts responsibility for managing many of their activities. We are a scout-led troop, providing a safe and supportive environment for our scouts to develop their leadership skills. We pride ourselves on empowering our youth to become leaders and take ownership of their personal growth.
Trained leaders and troop committee
Our adult leaders are 100% trained to BSA standards, ensuring our scouts receive the best possible guidance and support. Our troop committee meets monthly to manage finances and support the program developed by our scouts during their Annual Planning Conference. We are committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for our scouts.

Outdoor activities and meeting schedule
As a member of Troop 62, a scout can expect to participate in at least one weekend outdoor activity per month. Our troop meets regularly from 7:00 – 8:30 PM on Monday evenings. We are proud to have earned the BSA Journey to Excellence Gold level award each year, demonstrating our commitment to providing our youth with the best possible scouting experience.
